Let-Down and Expression Phases

When breastfeeding, babies first use quick sucking to stimulate milk flow and then switch to slower, deeper sucks to draw out milk. To replicate this natural rhythm, the Lansinoh Compact Single Electric Breast Pump offers two phases: the Let-Down Phase and the Expression Phase.

• Let-Down Phase: A fast pumping rhythm that mimics the quick, initial sucking action your baby uses to start milk flow.
• Expression Phase: A slower, deeper sucking rhythm with five adjustable suction levels to suit your comfort.

When you turn the pump on, it begins in Let-Down Phase at level 3 and automatically transitions to the Expression Phase after 2 minutes—no need to press a button unless you prefer to switch sooner. You can also manually switch to Expression Phase earlier if your milk begins to flow.

With an automatic power-off feature, the pump will shut down if left unused for more than 60 minutes.
